Who is the Academy For:
1. Individuals who are interested in either starting a business in one of the course areas listed below, or
2. Individuals who are interested in expanding their existing business by adding on areas that the courses cover, or
3. Individuals who already own a business (of any type) and who want to ensure that they are meeting the federal and state hiring regulations (OSHA, Taxes, and Workers Comp, etc.), or
4. Individuals who want to improve their abilities to become gainfully employed in the field of landscape, and
5. Individuals who want to develop leadership and communication skills in the workplace. Finally, these courses are designed to

Accommodate those who are not interested in enrolling in a traditional 4-year or 2-year college, are not interested in taking courses and subject matter that do not directly correlate to what they need to learn and know (English classes, foreign language classes, math classes, music classes, PE classes, etc.) to work or to own a business. However, they will be taught math concepts and terminology that are preferable to know and to use within the work and business environment (circumference calculation, square footage calculation, volume, measurements, etc., which will help in developing estimating and quote development skills). Many of the skills you will learn are transferable outside of the landscaping design and installation field (i.e.: building contractors, inspectors, business insurance adjusters, etc.).

The instructional positions are perfect for professional landscapers who believe they have the requisite knowledge, skills, and possess the potential to be trained to become highly effective instructors. The curriculum specialist will assist the instructor with the development of a competency-based curriculum that will ensure great success for each participant. The instructors will also have an instructional specialist to help them to develop highly effective teaching strategies. Lots of support will be available to the instructors. We will eventually hire Teaching Assistants to assist the instructors with the grading of projects and exams.
